Part of the initial plan was to recall the halcyon days of the railways in Britain to rekindle the sometimes romanticised memories of them in the UK. This is reflected within their updated logo based on the old-style station name boards you would’ve found in the early 20th century.
But other than their logo and attitude to excellent customer service they are far from old-fashioned. They launched their first website at the beginning of 2016. It featured a completely responsive layout and secure e-commerce and checkout facilities with PayPal and Royal Mail integration.
The web site has been redeveloped in 2018 with customer feedback based layouts, functionality and better integrations for faster payment, order tracking and more.
Since early 2017, we have been working with The Island Railway Shop to develop their own-brand range of products. These include OO gauge road and street signs, as well as advertising hoardings and station signage.
We’ve also worked on product photography and even with their primary supplier Hornby Hobbies to develop their brand further. This has helped them evolve from a traditional retailer to a modern, expanding model train retailer. In 2017, we successfully integrated Royal Mail’s Click & Drop system to reduce the turnaround time of customer orders. An added advantage is the instant relay of information to their customer while maximising efficiency.
We were delighted in 2019 to record our highest ever return on investment (ROI) for a retail PPC campaign and to help partner them with Klarna, the retail credit provider.
